Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham is reportedly close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Ian Taylor has worryingly stated on Twitter that he is ‘not liking the smell of the Tammy Abraham situation’ amid speculation that he is about to join Wolves.

Sky Sports are claiming that the Chelsea loanee is close to ending his season-long loan spell at Villa Park and joining Wolves on a temporary basis.

The 21-year-old has been in sparkling form in the Championship this season, scoring 16 goals in his 20 league matches as Dean Smith’s side sit outside of the playoff places.

Last season, Abraham was on-loan at Swansea City in the Premier League, but his five goals for the Welsh side couldn’t prevent their relegation to the second tier of English football.

Amid the rumours surrounding Abraham, Holte End favourite Taylor issued this message about the in-form striker following Villa’s FA Cup defeat to Swansea at the weekend.

Here is Taylor offering his thoughts on those rumours on his personal Twitter account:

Abraham was not part of the Villa squad that suffered an early exit from the FA Cup at the weekend, with Smith resting a number of senior players, including James Chester, Conor Hourihane and Yannick Bolasie.

It remains to be seen if Abraham is part of the Villa team that travels to Wigan Atheltic on Saturday, with Wolves playing Liverpool in the FA Cup on Monday night.

Villa are five points outside of the Championship’s top-six and the potential departure of their star striker would be a hammer blow to Smith and his side’s promotion push.
