Aston Villa signed midfielder John McGinn from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in the summer.

Ian Taylor has stated on Twitter that John McGinn winning Aston Villa’s Supporters Player of the Year was ‘never in doubt’ as he labelled the midfielder as ‘super’.
The 24-year-old moved to Villa Park last summer from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian and there is no doubt he has been one of the club’s best purchases in recent years.
On Wednesday night, he mopped up at Villa’s Player of the Year awards by winning the Supporters Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year – all of which comes to no surprise to those who have watched him play, week in and week out.
Here is Villa confirming McGinn’s awards, as posted on their official Twitter account and club legend Taylor responding to his success, as posted on his own personal Twitter account.
McGinn was initially signed by Steve Bruce, who was sacked by the club in November and replaced by Brentford boss Dean Smith.
Aside from Villa’s last 12 league matches, where they have won 10 of those games, they have showcased a lack of consistency in their performances and results.

But one constant that has continued to produce has been the never-ending machine of McGinn in the middle of the park. Stats aside, goals aside and assists aside, just his sheer work rate and determination to win the ball has won the hearts of the Villa faithful.
There is no doubt that the Scotland international has been one of Villa’s best buys this century and Villa fans will be hoping that there is more to come from him.
