Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings excelled on his debut for England yesterday.

Ian Taylor has praised Tyrone Mings, after the Aston Villa defender excelled on debut for England last night.
Mings stepped into England’s defence for the first time against Bulgaria, and the Villa man gave an accomplished display.
The 26-year-old looks assured at the back, as England strolled to success.
And Taylor has suggested that Mings’s showing proves that Villa did not overpay for him in the summer.
Mings has really impressed ever since moving to Villa, and his display last night will have given Gareth Southgate food for thought.
England have struggled defensively of late, but Mings seemed to bring a calmness to their play.
Mings, of course, will face tougher opponents than Bulgaria over the course of his international career if he does stay in the England squad, but his performance last night suggested he was very much at home in a Three Lions’ shirt.
Mings’s attention will now have to return to club matters shortly, with Villa set to take on Brighton & Hove Albion next.
