Ian Taylor has praised Aston Villa for a professional victory, after his former side beat Sunderland last night.

Villa picked up a comfortable 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light, to ensure that they kept pace with the promotion chasers.

The claret and blues are in a fight with Cardiff City for second place, and currently sit four points behind Neil Warnock’s men.

Steve Bruce, Manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Aston Villa at Craven Cottage on April 17, 2017 in London, England.

Cardiff won last night, but Villa did their bit to ensure that the pressure remains on the Welsh side.

And Taylor was pleased that his side were able to pick up the three points on Wearside.

Sunderland have shown signs of life of late, but Villa easily brushed past them yesterday.

Villa took the lead when Lewis Grabban capitalised on some poor defending and they never looked back after.

James Chester and an own goal from Bryan Oviedo secured the victory for Steve Bruce’s side.

Villa are next in action at the weekend, when they take on top of the table Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
