Aston Villa are yet to pick up any points from their opening two Premier League matches.
Ian Taylor has urged Aston Villa supporters to ‘keep the faith’ as their team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon at Villa Park.
It was a pretty dreadful opening 15 minutes for the home team, with goalkeeper Tom Heaton conceding a very rash penalty in the opening minute.
Just after the 10-minute mark, Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson struck a shot from outside of the area, which took a wicked deflection, but Douglas Luiz’s decision to allow the ball to run on proved to be a costly one.
After the game, former Villa Park favourite Taylor shared his honest thoughts on the match from his personal Twitter account as he was pretty optimistic about the future.
Aside from the rash mistakes which led to goals, Villa’s produced a pretty strong attacking display and no doubt deserved, at the very least, a point from the game.
Bournemouth midfielder Phillip Billings was lucky not to be shown two yellows in the game, as Eddie Howe substituted him at half-time, which told its own story.
Nonetheless, despite conceding more goals at the back, Villa’s centre-back duo of Tyrone Mings and Bjorn Engles were outstanding, and once again, they didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
Midfielder John McGinn was up to his usual best, whilst Luiz, who made that mistake in the first half, grew into the game, scored a wondergoal and proved what he can produce for the team in games down the line.
Dean Smith’s focus will now turn to Everton, who have picked up four points from their opening two matches, with the Toffees visiting Villa Park next Friday.
