Villa got the better of Wigan 2-0 away from home at the DW Stadium in the Championship.
After a goalless first half, James Chester put the Villans in the lead in the 73rd minute, and Scott Hogan doubled the advantage six minutes before the full-time whistle.
Former Villa midfielder Taylor was following the match, and he has picked two players for praise – attacker Hogan and midfielder Mile Jedinak.
Ex-Villa defender Paul McGrath has also taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the win against Wigan.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hosts Wigan had 56% of the possession, took 15 shots of which six were on target, and earned nine corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors Villa had 44% of the possession, took eight shots of which three were on target, and earned seven corners, according to BBC Sport.
