Aston Villa lost 3-1 to Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor has admitted on Twitter that he finds it hard to guess what Roberto Di Matteo’s first XI will be at Sheffield Wednesday next Sunday.
The Villans kick off their Championship season with a trip to Wednesday, who narrowly missed out on Premier League promotion last term after losing the playoff final to Hull.

Aston Villa warmed up for that one by hosting Premier League new boys Middlesbrough at Villa Park, which started well when Nathan Baker headed home the opener on 15 minutes, but three goals in the final half-an-hour saw Roberto Di Matteo’s side lose 3-1.
Taylor is under no illusions that there is “plenty of work” still to be done if Villa are to follow Middesbrough’s example by winning Championship promotion.
But the Aston Villa icon admits that a shortage of crosses for big striker Rudy Gestede is among the concerns he has for the Villans, as well as admitting that he has no idea what Di Matteo’s best XI is.
