Noel Whelan predicted on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:08pm, May 10, 2019) that Aston Villa will win against West Bromwich Albion.

The former Leeds United and Derby County striker has backed Villa to get the better of West Brom at Villa Park in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final tie on Saturday evening.

Villa legend Ian Taylor has backed the Villans to progress to the Championship playoff final at the expense of West Brom.

The former Derby midfielder also believes that Frank Lampard’s side will get past Leeds in the other semi-final tie.

The Rams will face Leeds at the Pride Park Stadium in the first leg of their semi-final tie on Saturday evening.

Whelan said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:08pm, May 10, 2019) regarding this afternoon’s match between Villa and West Brom: “I am going with a Villa win.”

Taylor said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:28pm, May 10, 2019): “I do fancy us over the two legs, but it’s not going to be as easy as some people think. These games never are. Like I said, you just never know what’s going to happen. I do fancy Derby and us to go through.”

The first leg of the ties will be key. If Villa are able to win by two clear goals against West Brom and Derby get the better of Leeds by a similar margin, then the Villans and the Rams should be confident of going through to the final.
