Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic won against Partick Thistle at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Hayes featured for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership match against Thistle at Celtic Park.
The 30-year-old winger did not start the match, but the Republic of Ireland international came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute.
Former Thistle manager McCall, who is now in charge of Ayr United, was following the match, and he noted that Hayes was looking desperate to play and was very sharp.
McCall told BBC Sport (21:27): “Jonny Hayes looks desperate to play. He’s all over the place, plenty of energy, very sharp, and getting balls into the box at every opportunity.”
Hayes played relatively well against coming on against Thistle at Celtic Park, as Celtic returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership with a 2-0 victory.
The winger has struggled for playing time for Brendan Rodgers’s side since his move from Aberdeen in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Express to be worth £1.3 million.
The Republic of Ireland international winger is a good player who has proved himself in the Scottish Premiership, and perhaps he should look to leave Celtic on a loan deal in the January transfer window to play regularly during the second half of last season.
