Leeds United are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are genuine contenders for the playoffs.

The West Yorkshire outfit are fourth in the league table at the moment with 65 points from 36 matches.

The Whites are nine points behind second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, and do have a small chance of clinching an automatic promotion spot.

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and had become also-rans in the Championship in recent seasons.

Not many would have predicted Garry Monk’s side to end up in the playoffs this campaign, but one man who did was Ian Holloway.

Now in charge of Queens Park Rangers, the former Leicester City and Crystal Palace manager backed Leeds to end up sixth in the Championship on Skysports.com.

“These are my dark horses for the season,” Holloway wrote about Leeds on Skysports.com. “Well done, Mr Cellino – you’ve made your best ever signing in Garry Monk.

“No one was applauding louder than me when he appointed Monk. He was a huge part of what Swansea achieved – he’ll build an identity and a way of playing at Leeds United. It’s what the fans deserve.”

Interestingly, QPR will face Leeds away from home at Elland Road in the Championship this weekend.

The Whites will head into the match on Saturday afternoon as favourites, but one should not be surprised if London club Rangers pick up a point from the encounter.
