Queens Park Rangers beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 in Championship action last night.
Ian Holloway appears to have taken a dig at previous Queens Park Rangers’ regimes with his comments on the club’s official website after his side beat Wigan Athletic last night.
QPR beat Wigan 2-1 at Loftus Road yesterday, in what was a scrappy match between the two bottom half teams.
Wigan attempted to out battle QPR, but they were unable to bully the hosts into submission.
And Holloway feels that his QPR players’ willingness to fight for their teammates shows an improvement that they have made since he came in.
“Wigan battered us a bit, physically, but we took it. Ryan’s [Manning] almost got his head knocked off his shoulders, after quite a bad challenge, but we got up and we didn’t moan,” Holloway said.
“QPR teams in the past might have. But we’ve shown a bit of steel.
“I think the fans really enjoyed seeing the lads having a go for each other. That’s what I’m pleased with. The togetherness is coming, which is really, really important.”
QPR took the lead in the match early on, when Matt Smith powered home, but they were pegged back by Wigan.
The Latics netted through Omar Bogle to get themselves back on level terms, but Conor Washington continued his fine scoring form to hit the winner.
QPR have now moved up to 15th place in the Championship table, 10 points above the drop zone.
Rangers are next in action against Preston North End at Deepdale at the weekend.
