Liverpool should have tried to sign reported Everton target and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to Ian Holloway.

Ian Holloway suggested on Sky Sports Premier League on Thursday morning (10:42am, August 8, 2019) that Liverpool should have made a move for reported Everton target and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

According to The Times, Everton were interested in signing Zaha from Premier League rivals Palace in the summer transfer window.

It was reported that the former Manchester United winger made a transfer request at Palace in order to complete a move to Goodison Park.

The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international, though, will stay at Palace until January at least, as the summer transfer window for Premier League clubs is now closed.

Holloway worked with Zaha at Palace, and he suggested that Liverpool should have made a move for the winger on transfer deadline day.

Holloway said on Sky Sports Premier League on Thursday morning (10:42am, August 8, 2019): “If I was him, I would be in for Wilfried Zaha because Sane might be going, he might have a knee injury. I believe Wilfried is that good.”

Zaha is one of the best wingers in the Premier League, and the Ivory Coast international has been brilliant for Palace in his second spell at Selhurst Park after struggling to make an impact at United.

According to WhoScored, the winger made 34 appearances in the Premier League for Palace last season, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in the process.
