Queens Park Rangers were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa yesterday.
Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway has told West London Sport that Jake Bidwell apologised to his teammates at half-time, during his side’s match against Aston Villa yesterday.
Bidwell had plenty of crossing opportunities in the opening 45 minutes of the match, but he failed to take advantage.
The former Brentford defender was wasteful in the final third, and Holloway admits that a lack of end product was one of the reasons why his QPR side failed to get past Villa.
“The delivery, which I feel over the last couple of years has been absolutely exceptional at this football club, unfortunately at the minute is not what it was,” Holloway said.
“[Jake] Bidwell’s crossing is normally brilliant. He apologised at half-time, but I said ‘don’t be stupid Bids, just miss out that first man’ because there were runners in there.”
QPR ended up losing 1-0 to Villa, with a goal from Jonathan Kodjia providing to be the difference between the two sides.
Kodjia blasted the ball beyond Alex Smithies in the second half, to ensure that Villa picked up three points.
QPR have now lost their last five matches in succession, with Holloway failing to make the start he desired since taking charge at Loftus Road.
Rangers have slipped down to 19th place in the Championship table – just three points above the relegation zone.
