The Tykes have surprised everyone by emerging as early promotion contenders, but Holloway believes their bubble is about to be burst.
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Walter Zenga
Ian Holloway believes that Wolverhampton Wanderers will end their wait for a victory when they come up against a high-flying Barnsley side at Molineux on Tuesday, Sky Sports reports.
Walter Zenga’s men have failed to win either of their last two Championship games after Will Miller’s late equaliser ensured that they were forced to share the points with Burton Albion in their last outing.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Barnsley have surprised many by putting themselves in the division’s top three after six games. Paul Heckingbottom’s men have won four of their last five fixtures, and their only dropped points since the opening day of the campaign came in their clash with league leaders Huddersfield, where only a stoppage-time goal denied them a point.
Despite the Tykes’ wonderful form however, Holloway is backing Wolves to burst their bubble.
Ian Holloway
“Wolves have had a decent start under their new manager Walter Zenga and I think they’ll have too much for Barnsley,” he told Sky Sports when explaining why he expects them to win 2-1.
“Paul Heckingbottom’s side have been absolutely outstanding and they had another great result at the weekend by beating Preston. But I can’t see them getting anything at Molineux.”

While Wolves have not won in their last two league games, they have shown glimpses of form which suggest that they could be battling for a place in the top six this term.
Their only defeat in all competitions came at the hands of Huddersfield, and Zenga will surely be reminding his players that a victory could move them right up the table, and above their opponents, which could be a huge boost to their confidence ahead of their upcoming trip to Newcastle.
