Former Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has told Sky Sports that Newcastle United will fail to win against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Newcastle will take on Brighton at St. James’ Park in the Championship on Saturday evening.

Holloway believes that the match will finish 1-1 and has backed Glenn Murray, on loan at Brighton from Bournemouth, to score the opening goal.

“What a fantastic game this is going to be and I’ve got the pleasure of watching it in the studio,” Holloway told Sky Sports.

“It’s Chris Hughton going back to Newcastle and Rafa Benitez is just starting to get them ticking over. It’s difficult to separate them.”

A footnote added: “OLLIE PREDICTS: 1-1 and Glenn Murray first goalscorer (Sky Bet odds 9/2).”

Newcastle are in good form at the moment and will head into the game against Brighton as favourites.

The Magpies have won their last three competitive matches, including two in the Championship.

Rafael Benitez’s side will head into this evening’s encounter on the back of a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town at St. James’ Park in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Brighton are also in good form at the moment and are one of the favourites to finish in the top two of the Championship this season.

Chris Hughton’s side got the better of Oxford United 4-2 away from home in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
