Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway is tipping one of Leeds United or Blackburn Rovers to end their recent misery when the two sides meet at Elland Road.

The former Premier League giants sit third-bottom and bottom of the Championship respectively, although the winner of Tuesday’s encounter will likely climb out of the relegation places.

Three points for either side looks a tough ask as things stand, with Leeds yet to win at home in the league and Blackburn without a win at all this season.

Holloway, though, thinks one of them will do it.

“Both teams have had a horrendous start, that’s all you can say,” the former Leicester City and Crystal Palace manager wrote in his regular predictions column. “I look at [Leeds head coach] Garry Monk at the weekend, Aaron Mooy scored a great winner for Huddersfield against Leeds but he made a horrendous tackle before that and he should have been sent off.

“It was always going to take time, they’ve lost a lot of good players and it’s early days, but boy do Leeds need a win. Blackburn, though, have had a torrid time, so I’ve gone for a home win.

“Leeds need to get the first goal and get themselves going, but that shirt seems awfully heavily for their players at the moment with the expectation of those fans.

“1-0.”

Both Leeds and Blackburn went through a summer of change, with new managers – Monk and Owen Coyle – bringing in 11 and 12 new players respectively.

However, their poor starts have left both Monk and Coyle feeling the pressure approaching matchweek seven, with the Sun reporting (via the Daily Star) that the former faces the sack if his side lose on Tuesday.

Were that to happen, the 37-year-old would become the seventh managerial casualty of Massimo Cellino’s two-and-a-half-year reign as owner of the Yorkshire side.
