Leeds’ error-prone trio of Sol Bamba, Giuseppe Bellusci and Marco Silvestri have been moved out of contention.

Leeds United defeated Cardiff City today, picking up their second win of the week in doing so.
It was also a clean sheet that they truly deserved.
Leeds were staunch at the back, with central defenders Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson in excellent form. Rob Green was also excellent, much more of a commanding presence than he was in his early Leeds days.
The performance at the back certainly impressed former Championship boss Ian Holloway.

Speaking on Sky Sports Holloway commented on the defending of players previously brought in by Leeds owner and chairman Massimo Cellino – and praising Monk’s new defensive team:
“I watched Leeds enough last year and I thought they were terrible at the back.
“There was little grubby footprints of Bellusci, the centre-half and the goalkeeper Silvestri making mistakes.
“They were what the chairman brought over and Garry’s now saying this is what I want.
“I thought the two centre-halves today were outstanding.”

There is no doubt that the triumvirate of Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson and Rob Green is certainly looking like a more solid combination than that of Sol Bamba, Giuseppe Bellusci and Marco Silvestri.
The latter trio were full of mistakes which often proved costly.
The current group look much more assured at Championship level and can be the foundations on which Leeds United base a potential push for the play-off spots under Garry Monk this season.
