The QPR manager is pleased to see Leeds returning to former glories.
QPR manager Ian Holloway
QPR boss Ian Holloway has been talking about the weekend fixture with Leeds United and insisted the Yorkshire club have what it takes to challenge in the Premier League.
QPR fought out a 0-0 draw with Leeds at the weekend, with the West Yorkshire side struggling to break down the West Londoners.
But Leeds are still fighting for promotion and have hopes of making it back to the Premier League this season.
Garry Monk is doing wonders at Elland Road and Holloway believes that, should Leeds be promoted from the second-tier this season they may have a long-term goal of challenging in the Premier League’s elite.
He is quoted by the Ealing Times as stating:
“The top six more or less pick themselves every year – how boring is that?
“To try and break into it, you need ten or fifteen years. Let’s see if Leeds can do it – and let me tell you I’m going to be an avid watcher.
“It’s been a great day for me and I’m proud of my team. But it was also nice to see Leeds buzzing. I understand how hard it is for Mr Monk to keep everyone focussed but he’s done it brilliantly so good luck to him.”
Leeds United players celebrate after the match
Whilst Leeds may have not been in the top-flight of English football for some time now they remain one of the biggest teams in the country.
With an avid fanbase, excellent youth system and a historic home stadium big players are always going to be tempted by a move to Leeds United in the future.
If they can find themselves back in the top-flight, rest assured that Holloway’s prediction may not be too far-fetched after all.
