Jack Ross’s Sunderland will face Bristol Rovers in League One this weekend.

Ian Holloway has suggested that pressure on Sunderland from their own fans will be enormous for the match against Bristol Rovers this weekend, as quoted in The Bristol Post.

Sunderland will take on Rovers away from home at the Memorial Stadium in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Former Rovers midfielder and manager Holloway believes that the Black Cats will be under pressure to win.

Holloway told The Bristol Post: “Why shouldn’t they win on Saturday after Tuesday night’s encouraging display at Portsmouth?

“Sunderland may be a massive club, but their recent form isn’t great and the pressure of expectation from their fans will be enormous.”

Sunderland favourites?

Sunderland returned to winning ways in League One on Tuesday evening, as they got the better of Gillingham 4-2 at the Stadium of Light in League One.

The Black Cats are third in the League One table at the moment with 62 points from 32 matches, nine points behind leaders Luton Town, who have played a game more.

Rovers are fighting for survival in League One at the moment, but playing at home with give Graham Coughlan’s side an advantage.

Sunderland, though, should still be able to eke out a win from the encounter and maintain their challenge for automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of the season.
