Ian Holloway has backed West Ham’s move for Scott Hogan.

Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway has told talkSPORT that he thinks West Ham United could made a fantastic signing by snapping up Brentford striker Scott Hogan.

Hogan, 24, has enjoyed a meteoric rise from non-league to the cusp of the top flight, having turned out for the likes of Woodley Sports, Halifax Town, Mossley, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde.

The pacey forward then starred with Rochdale, scoring 19 goals in 40 games to earn a 2014 move to Brentford, only for disaster to strike early into his Bees career, as injury ruled him out for 18 months.

After making a stunning return from injury last term with seven goals in seven games, Hogan has continued his goalscoring exploits this term, smashing 14 goals in 25 Championship games for Brentford.

Unsurprisingly, his goalscoring exploits have caught the eye, and Sky Sports report that West Ham United have now made three bids for Hogan as they desperately attempt to land a new striker.

It’s stated that West Ham have offered £9million up front and £3million in add-ons, but Brentford want the deal to total £15million, so the add-ons are causing a hold-up in the deal.

Whilst West Ham seemingly aren’t ready to give up, it’s unclear whether a deal will be done before this month’s transfer deadline, and QPR boss Ian Holloway has told Hammers fans what to expect from their potential new arrival.

Holloway told talkSPORT that he thinks Hogan is ‘exceptional’ in front of goal, with his movement causing mayhem for defenders, and suggested that it’s a ‘fantastic signing’ for West Ham if they can pull it off.

“I think he’s exceptional when he gets through on goal,” said Holloway. “He’s a threat over the top, he makes runs and runs and runs – not selfish ones for himself – he makes runs to disrupt the back four. He works for his team, and I think it’s fantastic signing,” he added.
