Queens Park Rangers have won their last two matches without Massimo Luongo starting.
Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway has admitted to West London Sport that Massimo Luongo was unlucky to be left out in his side’s last match.
Luongo did not play in QPR’s win over Wigan Athletic in midweek, with competition for places hotting up at Loftus Road.
And Holloway insists that the Australian international understands the reasons for leaving him out.
“Massimo’s unlucky I’ve left him out, but he’s still as happy as everybody else because we’re winning games,” Holloway said.
Luongo now faces a fight to win his place back in QPR’s midfield, after Holloway’s side have won back-to-back matches.
QPR first beat Birmingham City at St. Andrews 4-1, after putting in a very impressive performance.
Rangers then had to battle past Wigan on Tuesday evening, with Matt Smith’s and Conor Washington’s goals providing them with the three points.
Luongo is now likely to remain on the bench, when QPR take on Preston North End this weekend.
QPR are now in 15th place in the Championship table, 10 points above the relegation zone.
