The former Whites defender believes the star left-back’s presence will only serve to improve Denton.

Former Leeds United hero Ian Harte has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is pleased that Charlie Taylor did not leave Elland Road this summer because his presence will improve young star Tyler Denton.
Perhaps the biggest transfer saga at the Whites this summer was whether or not Taylor would follow fellow young star man Lewis Cook out of the exit door.
Taylor was linked with a host of Premier League clubs but ultimately remained at Elland Road, where he has become a key man in recent times and was named the club’s player of the year last season.

That is undoubtedly good news for Leeds, despite the fact that they already seem to have a very promising and capable deputy emerging in the form of Denton.
The 21-year-old made his senior debut for the club in August against Luton Town in the EFL Cup and scored the winner in the game, something which saw him rewarded with a new three-year contract.
Harte, who not only played 288 times in nearly a decade at Leeds but is also Denton’s agent, believes that though Taylor’s stay will continue to limit Denton’s opportunities, it is still a good thing for the youngster.

Harte told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I was watching the scores coming through and when I saw he [Denton] had scored I was absolutely buzzing for him. It was a great finish and the perfect way for things to go on your debut.
“But he has got a long way to go and he knows that. It’s good for him that Charlie Taylor is still at the club. Charlie’s one of the best left-backs in the Championship and Tyler will learn a lot from him.”
The future of Leeds’ left-back spot looks in good hands if they can continue to fight off interest in Taylor, and Denton will be hoping of gaining more chances in the first team as the star’s deputy.
