The knives had been out for manager Garry Monk ahead of the fixture, with the Whites earning only one win from their opening six games.

The weekend’s 1-0 loss at home to Huddersfield Town was an abject performance, and left them without a home win in the league.
On paper the fixture list could not have provided a kinder match than Blackburn at home, who had no wins all season, but this brought a pressure Leeds were not used to, being favourites to win.
Blackburn pushed them hard, but Leeds dug in to record a 2-1 victory, with Kyle Bartley scoring a late winning goal.
Former left-back and free-kick specialist Harte commented on Twitter, expressing his relief at the win.
Leeds are into 17th position after the win, having been in 22nd place, within the relegation zone, heading into the must win fixture.
At the weekend they face Cardiff City away, who are in 21st place with two fewer points than Leeds and only one win.
