Ian Harte took to Twitter to express his delight for Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke after the Whites’ latest pre-season friendly.
Leeds may have suffered their first defeat under Marcelo Bielsa in their latest pre-season game, but a second-half fightback would have provided the new Whites boss with plenty of positives to reflect upon ahead of their last couple of friendlies before the new Championship campaign begins.
One of the positives to emerge from the 4-3 defeat to Oxford United was the performance – particularly after the break – of young winger Jack Clarke, and after the full-time whistle, the Leeds prospect exchanged messages with Ian Harte on Twitter.
With Bielsa looking to integrate some of the young players into the Leeds first-team, it would have surprised few that Clarke would become one of those who would be handed a couple of chances this summer.
The 17-year-old was undoubtedly one of the most exciting talents in the under-23 side last season, and appears destined to step up a level during the coming campaign and perhaps get the chance to make his competitive first-team bow in the very near future.
While Leeds suffered a defeat, he certainly did his chances of featuring more prominently in the first-team no harm at all by scoring the Whites’ goal and arguably looking like one of the most dangerous players on the pitch.
And Harte – who, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, represents the young forward – took to Twitter just after Clarke scored to express his delight at the goal, while he also sent the prospect a message on social media after the game concluded.

There may well be some of Bielsa’s squad last night who saw their first-team prospects dented somewhat after a fairly dreadful first-half display, but it seems fair to say that Clarke was one to emerge from the contest with some credit, and it would be little surprise if Harte’s prediction regarding his future came to fruition.
