Former Ibrox forward Iain Ferguson has told The Scottish Sun that Rangers players will be annoyed by Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos was sent off during the Old Firm derby between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park at the weekend.

The Colombia international striker was dismissed on 31 minutes for an elbow on Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.

Although Rangers played well in the second half, Neil Lennon’s side won the Scottish Premiership game 2-1.

Former Rangers forward Ferguson believes that Morelos’s dismissal will have annoyed his Ibrox teammates.

Ferguson told The Scottish Sun about Morelos: “The Rangers players will have been annoyed and frustrated with Morelos, because it keeps on happening.

“On Sunday, his indiscipline yet again gave them a mountain to climb in a big game.”

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has admitted that the left-back situation is a concern for him ahead of the match against Heart of Midlothian.

Rangers will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Hearts at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

Andy Halliday is suspended for Rangers, while Borna Barisic is injured, meaning that there is a problem for manager Gerrard in that area.

Gerrard told Rangers’ official website: “Of course, if you are missing two players in the same position, it is a bit of a concern.

“Thankfully, it is one area of the pitch where we have enough cover and enough options to cope without those two.”

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 60 points from 31 matches, 13 points behind leaders Celtic.
