Pundit says West Ham should have gone for Arsenal in the latter stages.
West Ham pulled off an impressive result against Arsenal by holding the Gunners to a goalless draw.
It followed up a win over Chelsea, and there is suddenly reason for the Hammers to be positive once more.
The Hammers came close to even winning the game, with Javier Hernandez missing a late chance from close range.
Pundit Iain Dowie felt Arsenal were there for the taking, and West Ham’s only regret should be not pushing harder for the win as the game went on.
Dowie told SkySports’ Soccer Special: “I wonder whether Moyes will think, did I miss a trick not going with two up top?”
He also commented on Hernandez’s surprising late miss, which saw him hit the crossbar when it seemed inevitable he would score.
“If there’s anyone you want the ball to, it’s Hernandez. He should score, game over.”
Dowie was also asked whether he felt Moyes has won over West Ham’s supporters, and said that he feels he has at this point.
He said: “Yes I’d think so. They defended great, they were organised.”
This was likely a game that West Ham would have lost under Slaven Bilic, and Moyes’ team have shown signs of progress in recent weeks.
But now the real challenge comes, as sitting back to defend against more attack minded teams can only take Moyes so far.
Supporters will want to see pragmatism develop into more exciting performances, and Moyes needs to find a way of kicking on.
