Former Premier League striker and Arsenal supporter Darren Bent says he would not swap Gabriel Martinelli for Manchester City star Phil Foden.
While Bent feels that the Foden is the better footballer overall, Gabriel Martinelli‘s form over the last year has made him a player who the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man would not want to trade.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent said: “Foden is a better player than Martinelli, but I think naturally, it’s taken Martinelli a while to get up to the level that he’s at.
“But watching Martinelli last season, I wouldn’t swap him straight away and put Foden in.”
The Brazilian was one of Arsenal‘s standout players during the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 15 times in the Premier League.
Gabriel Martinelli is untouchable right now
Honestly, there are not too many players you would swap Martinelli for at this moment in time. Last term, he proved to be such a dangerous forward.
The Arsenal star is already a Brazil international and still just 22 years of age. You would expect him to get even better in the future.

Without him in the previous season, the Gunners probably would not have been in the title race.
It will now be interesting to see if Martinelli can maintain the form he has shown in the past 12 months. If he can, then Mikel Arteta’s men could be in for another bright campaign.
With Bukayo Saka on the opposite flank, the north London club have such a dangerous attack. And with the England star also being in his early 20s, it is quite clear that Arsenal could be sorted in the forward positions for years to come.
Ultimately, the likes of Martinelli and Saka are not the kind of players you would go around trying to trade. Right now, they are easily two of the best wide men in the Premier League.
