Kris Boyd says he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Antonio Conte doesn’t sign a new contract, unless Tottenham Hotspur offers him the ‘millions’ in the transfer market.
The Italian has a contract that runs until the end of the season, but Spurs have the chance to extend that by 12 months, with Boyd talking about the difficulty of just getting into the Champions League again this season.
Spurs are sitting fourth in the Premier League table, and during the World Cup break, there has been talk of a new deal for Conte.

The positive news is that talks are being held, now it’s just a case of the waiting game and seeing what comes from it.
You would imagine the likes of Harry Kane’s future, as well as the January transfer window, will play a part in those discussions, and former Scotland international Boyd spoke about the challenges ahead, as he told Sky Sports News.
“Antonio Conte is one of those managers who goes in and has an impact straight away,” said Boyd. “They have improved. They have Champions League football.
“I get the feeling, unless, Tottenham are going to give him the millions that he will need to turn it around and to get them to challenge your Manchester City and Liverpool’s at the top, then I think, because Arsenal have turned it around as well there is more pressure. You can see signs that Manchester United are improving.
“It’s going to be very difficult to get into that top four again. You would expect Chelsea to come. The whole Juventus stuff is still lingering in Italy as well.
“I know there is talk of a new contract, but I wouldn’t be surprised, (if he doesn’t sign a new deal). I’m not 100% sure.”

CONTE SHOULD SIGN A NEW DEAL
It’s understandable for Conte to ask for assurances regarding what’s coming next month and in the summer, in terms of money on the table.
But, in truth, he should only look towards the recently-concluded transfer window and last January as prime examples that Daniel Levy is backing him.
When someone like Levy breaks the club’s record transfer for a player in Richarlison, who walked in as a back-up and not a starter, then that tells you everything you need to know about how much trust and backing is in Conte.
