As Liverpool fans will tell you, Harvey Elliott isn’t a player who lacks any confidence.
The 19-year-old had already become a regular under Jürgen Klopp before suffering a gruesome ankle injury at Elland Road, while he also became the youngest player in Premier League history at 16 years and 30 days.
Now, Elliott has showed more faith in his ability by making a very bold claim.
What’s the story?
Well, despite scoring just one goal last season, the teenager is aiming to hit 20 goals next term.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Elliott said: “I would say maybe 15 or 20, but that’s just me being overconfident. You’ve got to aim high.”
He certainly isn’t short of belief in himself, to say the least.
Some may call it arrogance, although we feel it’s great to see Elliott have such confidence going into the 2022/23 season.
Given the fact Liverpool came within a whisker of completing the quadruple, most 19-year-old prospects would probably just aspire to be involved in the first-team on a regular basis next season.
However, Elliott is clearly aiming far beyond that, which should excite Liverpool supporters.
Harvey Elliott can hit double figures for Liverpool

In our view, Elliott has enough talent to score at least ten goals for Liverpool next season – if he stays fit.
However, a lot will depend on where Klopp uses the England Under-21 international.
Liverpool’s new No.19 spent most of his time as a centre-attacking midfielder last term, with only two appearances coming on the right wing, where we think he could shine cutting inside on his left foot.

Seeing as Mohamed Salah operates out there, we think the best position for Elliott would be on the right of a three-man midfield, where he can overlap the Egyptian and also combine with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
We’re not sure if he will reach 20 goals, but if he avoids injury throughout the season, the exciting teenager can definitely hit double figures.
