Jose Mourinho has suggested on TalkSPORT that Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford should be dropped at Euro 2020.

Pickford looks set to go into the tournament as England’s number one.

However, Mourinho says that he would pick Dean Henderson over the Everton man.

“I would go with Henderson in goal,” he said, when asked for his England line-up.

TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil then questioned Mourinho, asking whether he was not a fan of the Everton stopper.

And he said: “I am a Henderson fan.

“He was at United during my time, when he was a kid. He came to my office asking for a loan and at that time went to Shrewsbury.

“And when that kid was asking me to go on loan the kid was saying when I come back, I come back to be number one.

“We look to each other – the staff and the goalkeeper coaches – and were like we have De Gea!”

Pickford was actually in very good form for Everton towards the back end of the campaign.

He also put in a solid performance in England’s warm-up game against Austria, as he kept a clean-sheet in a 1-0 victory for the Three Lions.

Pickford has been backed heavily by Gareth Southgate and has generally performed excellent when starting for his country.

There is some concerns about his tendency to make high profile errors though, which has been seen on occasion at Everton.

England get their Euro 2020 campaign underway at the weekend, when they take on Croatia.
