Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer dealings this month and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
We’re one week on from one of the biggest gazumpings in Premier League history that saw Mudryk head to Stamford Bridge rather than the Emirates last weekend, and some are still reeling about the fact the Gunners missed out on the Ukrainian.
Wright himself seemingly still isn’t over missing out on Mudryk, stating that he would have loved to see the winger end up at Arsenal this month.

Wright wanted Mudryk
Wright discussed Mudryk after Arsenal missed out
“It’s vital that we get it right with the signings. I would have loved for Mudryk to have come here because of how good he is and what he could be come, but we need it to happen now with the players that are coming in,” Wright said.
“The thing is that, for me, with Mudryk it’s a great signing and he’s meant to be amazing and yet he could be that. But we’ve calmed down.”
Trossard is just as good
It’s easy to get hung up on what could have been with Mudryk, but Arsenal have picked up an even better alternative in the shape of Leandro Trossard.
With all due respect to Mudryk. He’s unproven at the top level. The Ukrainian league isn’t even one of Europe’s top 10 leagues, and he’s never done it on the biggest of stages.
Meanwhile, Trossard has scored just as many league goals as Mudryk this season while playing in the Premier League.
Yes, at the age of 22, Mudryk may have a higher ceiling, but Trossard looks to be the better player right this second.
