The West Ham United ace has been deployed more centrally this season.

Aaron Cresswell of England looks on after the FIFA 2018 World Cup Group F Qualifier between Lithuania and England at LFF Stadium on October 8, 2017 in Vilnius, Lithuania.

West Ham ace Aaron Cresswell sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared how he would have never envisaged playing in central defence for the Hammers this season, whilst insisting that he will play anywhere to help the team.

The east London outfit have endured a miserable campaign so far this season, and currently sit precariously in 17th spot in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone.

Cresswell himself has been inconsistent, but a shift from left-back to central defence earlier on in the season coincided with an upturn in form for the Liverpudlian.

The 28-year-old sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and joked that he would have laughed if someone had told him at the start of the season that he would play so many games at centre-half:

“For me, it’s all about the team and if someone had said to me I’d play that many games as a centre-half this season last summer, I’d have probably laughed, but the circumstances we’ve had this season and the injuries we’ve had, I’ve happily played there and we’ve had some good games and results.”

Next up for David Moyes’ men is their huge clash with Southampton at the London Stadium on Saturday, and Cresswell will have to be at his very best, if his side are to have any chance of taking maximum points from the contest.
