Richarlison has been speaking to TNT Sports about the Champions League, and the Everton forward made a claim about Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, the £35m Everton attacker was asked if there’s any club he specifically wants to see fail in the Champions League this season.
Understandably, the 24-year-old chose Liverpool, Everton’s bitter rivals.
Richarlison told TNT Sports: “From here in England, I would prefer Liverpool not to win. Because, like it or not, it’s like you said, it’s a rival and we don’t want the guys to win.
“Because there’s banter, total banter, Liverpool fans go on social media to make fun of us. So, if I had to choose, I would choose Liverpool not to win.”
Everton fans will surely love hearing that, although it could give the Reds a little bit more motivation to go all the way in Europe’s greatest club competition.
As things stand, Liverpool have won the Champions League on six occasions, and they’re in a great position to make that seven.
The Reds defeated Inter Milan by two goals to nil at the San Siro last night, putting one foot in the quarter-final in doing so.
Liverpool vs Everton given fresh edge

The Merseyside derby is always a passionate affair, and it’s now become even more interesting after Frank Lampard replaced Rafa Benitez.
As you may know, Jürgen Klopp and Lampard clashed at Anfield during Chelsea’s 5-3 defeat to the Reds in 2020.
As the game was behind closed doors, the pair’s bickering could be heard by all after Liverpool were awarded a contentious free-kick.
After full-time, Lampard called Klopp’s staff “arrogant”.

That did not go down well with the German. As quoted by Sky Sports, the 54-year-old said: “Speaking afterwards like this, that is not okay. Frank has to learn. He has a lot of time to learn because he is a young coach but that he has to learn.”
Now, the pair are both managing on Merseyside, so it will be interesting to see how they get on when the Toffees travel to Anfield in April.
