Daniel Craig has been speaking to Jamie Carragher amid the launch of the new James Bond film No Time To Die, where Liverpool were mentioned.
What’s the story?
Well, Craig revealed that he worships the ground Jürgen Klopp walks on, and eulogised over the German’s leadership skills.
When asked if Klopp would make a good James Bond, the 53-year-old told Sky Sports: “I worship him, so yes! I’ve been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times, and you just want to follow him.
“There’s a couple of people I’ve met over the years, the other one is Sir Alex Ferguson actually. He’s a leader. I think he’s way beyond James Bond.”
It must be nice to be described as being ‘beyond’ James Bond, although that just speaks volumes as to what type of person the Reds boss is.
It was telling that Craig mentioned Sir Alex Ferguson in the same breath as Klopp – the Scot is arguably the greatest football manager of all time.
Klopp will have to win many more trophies before he can be compared to Ferguson, although in terms of their people skills, they can’t be far off.
Can Liverpool perform their own James Bond heroics this Sunday?
Forget the 1-1 draw with Chelsea – this Sunday’s clash against Manchester City is Liverpool’s biggest game of the season so far.
Klopp – who earns £133,000-a-week – will have to channel his inner James Bond to help Liverpool get something out of this 007 mission at Anfield.
Manchester City arrive on Merseyside just one point behind the Reds in the Premier League, having won four and drawn one of their six games.
It provides Liverpool with a great chance to create some early distance from Pep Guardiola’s side, in what is a crucial game.
In past years, it has just been the Reds and the Citizens, although Chelsea now look like they’ll be involved in the title race too.
In that respect, this six-pointer must be won by Liverpool on Sunday – it could prove decisive come May.
