Paul Scholes has claimed that Harry Kane was wishing he was ‘at Manchester City’ when he saw the Tottenham team on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (11/09/21 at 2:25 pm)

Tottenham made the short trip to Crystal Palace over the weekend, with Nuno Espirito Santo missing a number of his keys stars, including Heung-Min Son.

Even with Kane in the starting XI, it was a weak Spurs XI and bench that fell to a 3-0 defeat at Selhurst Park.

What made matters worse for Spurs is that Eric Dier went off injured and Japhet Tanganga was sent off – and now both will miss their weekend showdown with Chelsea.

Scholes didn’t hold back in the Tottenham team that was put out and how Kane would have been feeling in the dressing room.

“It’s not a strong team,” said Scholes. “I think Harry Kane will be in that dressing room thinking ‘I wish I was at Manchester City’ with that team they have got.

“Is that team strong enough?”

There were the well-documented rumours in the summer about Kane wanting to leave for Man City and Pep Guardiola openly admitting that he wanted to sign him.

In the end, nothing happened and Tottenham’s star man, who is yet to score a Premier League goal this season, stayed put.

In truth, over four games, given that Nuno has managed to win nine points, it is a very strong start because Kane hasn’t even got going yet.

But the Palace defeat will hurt, more so because of the manner in which they lost to a team that were winless going into that encounter.
