Clinton Morrison has backed Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster to become a ‘superstar’ after he helped Swansea record a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

The former Crystal Palace player stated that he wished he was ‘like that’ at Brewster’s age, as he was referring to his ‘super talent’ whilst speaking to Sky Sports Football (05/07/20).

Brewster, 20, is on-loan at the Liberty Stadium and he continued his good form for the promotion chasers by opening the scoring yesterday.

Morrison spoke very highly of Brewster’s talents and backed him to go all the way in his career.

“I wish I was like that at that age,” Morrison told Sky Sports prior to the game. “He is some talent. I like the confidence. As a centre-forward, you need the confidence. You have to believe when you go onto that pitch that you are going to score goals all the time.

“I think he is a super talent and has done ever so well at Swansea. And he scores all sorts of goals, which I like.”

After Brewster helped Swansea to all three points, Morrison praised him even further during his post-match analysis.

“This is brilliant. He [Brewster] pins Luongo there [inside the six-yard box]. He’s holding him and he’s saying ‘you cannot move’. And that’s the most difficult thing. The finish is unreal.

“But that’s where Brewster does come alive. And that’s why he’s going to be a big superstar. That finish on the swivel is a fantastic finish. It’s a proper centre-forward goal. He is going to be a superstar.”

That’s seven goals Brewster has scored from his 16 league matches with Swansea and it’s fair to say that his goals are helping them dream of a play-off finish.

Steve Cooper’s side are four points behind sixth-placed Cardiff and if Brewster can continue to produce his magic then the Swans may just find themselves securing an unlikely play-off spot.
