Tim Sherwood is adamant that Antonio Conte ‘isn’t happy’ despite Tottenham Hotspur securing a 6-2 win over Leicester City on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (17/09/22 at 7:25 pm).
In an all-action affair in the capital, Son Heung-min stole the headlines with a stunning second-half hat-trick, as Sherwood thinks the game was ‘too open’ for Conte’s liking.
Spurs went into the match after suffering their first defeat of the season away at Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League midweek, but their unbeaten record in the league remained.
It’s a different story altogether for Brendan Rodgers and his gang because they’re sitting bottom after a summer of little spending.
Despite that, it was the Foxes who took the lead, and at one stage, they were level at 2-2 going into the break, before Spurs turned it on in the second-half, including a rapid hat-trick from super-sub Son.
It’s all rosy in the garden for the Premier League title-chasing side going into the international break, but Sherwood thinks Conte will have different feelings.
“I will tell you now, Antonio Conte isn’t happy with that performance,” said Sherwood. “It was too open for an Antonio Conte side.
“It was too chaotic. But it suited Tottenham. They had far too much quality. If you are going to get open against Tottenham, then you are going to get punished.”
