Riyad Mahrez has suggested that he won’t be signing for Arsenal this summer, in his latest press conference, which was covered by Tarik TV.
The Daily Mail say that Arsenal are interested in signing the Manchester City winger this summer, with Mikel Arteta knowing him well from his time at the Etihad Stadium.
Mahrez is far from a guaranteed starter at City, but would be the sort of blockbuster signing that Arsenal could build their team around.
However, it seems that the Algerian international has quickly extinguished any hope Arsenal had over a potential transfer.
“There is nothing about my future. I am well in Manchester. I will stay God willing,” he said.
Comments a disappointment?
In fairness the comments are unlikely to come as too much of a shock, as Mahrez always looked an ambitious target for Arsenal.
That doesn’t mean that they aren’t disappointing though, as the £60 million wide-man (BBC Sport) could have been a really exciting addition to the Gunners’ squad.

Arsenal have good options out wide, but few have produced the same level that Mahrez has in recent years.
Mahrez’s arrival at Arsenal would really have raised eye brows if it had happened, but the Gunners will now have to look elsewhere for additions.
Whether they will actually go after another winger remains to be seen, as Arsenal look relatively well stocked in that area, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka already at the club.
