Reported £1.5 million Celtic target Casper Hojer believes he will stay at Danish outfit Aarhus until January at least, speaking to More Than a Club, via TipsBladet.

It is a fortnight now since Boli Bolingoli packed his bags and slipped through the Parkhead exit, joining Istanbul Basaksehir on loan.

But, as Celtic have discovered, finding a replacement left-back before the transfer window slams shut is easier said than done.

Charlton Athletic have rejected two bids for Alfie Doughty, while Bristol City’s Niclas Eliasson is heading to Nimes rather than Glasgow.

Now, Celtic may be forced to give up the ghost on Hojer too.

“As it looks right now, I will stay at Aarhus,” says the 25-year-old Dane.

“I think (I’m staying). I cannot imagine anything else. At least, I have not heard anything.”

The Daily Record reported back in September that Celtic were interested in Hojer, who is valued at a bargain £1.5 million with just ten months left on his contract.

A Watford side who have been scouring the market for left-backs all summer are keen too. Hojer produced a remarkable four goals and nine assists from the flanks last season.

For now, Greg Taylor has the left-back spot tied down at Celtic.

The Scotland international might not be to everybody’s tastes but, while the critics continue to take aim at a perceived lack of quality in the final third, it must be said that Taylor has set up four goals in 11 games already in 2020/21.
