Speaking to Stadium Astro, Moussa Sissoko has highlighted the main difference between Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham managers.
The French midfielder has starred in north London under both gaffers, but he believes there are some key differences between the two tacticians’ style of play.
Sissoko seems to believe that Mourinho is a lot more defensive, while Pochettino was more focussed on playing with the ball.
‘I will say, with Mourinho, you are more solid defensively and trying to play on the weaknesses of the opponent, and with Pochettino we were more playing with the ball, more offensive, maybe more creative.” Sissoko said.
“But at the same time, we were leaving a lot of space behind us and some teams could damage us when we were losing the ball.”

To be fair, anyone who watches the game regularly could tell you about those differences between Pochettino and Mourinho.
What is intriguing however is the way Sissoko speaks about his former Spurs manager’s tactics, and he’s not the only Tottenham player impressed by Mourinho.
He seems to have bought into Mourinho’s more pragmatic style, pointing out the flaws in Pochettino’s more expansive tactics, and that’s good to see, considering that the Portuguese gaffer is his current boss.
Of course, it’s hard to be overly critical of Pochettino’s tactics while at Tottenham, he guided them to their best ever Premier League finish and took them to a Champions League final, but if Mourinho can go one better he will undoubtedly go down as a Tottenham legend.
It remains to be seen who will be considered the better Tottenham manager of the pair when all is said and done.
