Newcastle United transfer target, James Maddison, has told Kasper Schmeichel ‘I will miss you’ after Leicester City sold their captain to French side Nice, as he posted on his Instagram story.

Whilst this move doesn’t directly affect Newcastle United, it might still have some bearings on them wanting to sign James Maddison this summer.

Newcastle are knocking on the door for the Englishman’s signature – two bids have already been submitted to those in the King Power Stadium boardroom and the answer is no.

But could Maddison’s head be turned if he sees key players of the Leicester dressing room leave? Schmeichel is gone, there is talk of Wesley Fofana and Chelsea, whilst Youri Tielemans is in the final year of his contract.

Not forgetting that the Foxes have yet to sign a single player this summer, nonetheless, this is how Maddison reacted to Schmeichel leaving the club.

“@kasperschmeichel love ya, skipper. I wiill miss you a lot.”

WILL MADDISON FOLLOW SUIT?

Newcastle are knocking on Leicester’s door and they might have to open eventually because this summer is looking pretty grim for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Those at St James’ Park could use all of this to their advantage because, in a few weeks time, if Leicester have sold another key member of their team, such as Fofana, and they still haven’t signed a player, then players inside the club might start to ask questions about their ambitions.

For the Toon Army faithful, they will be hoping Maddison’s head is turned and he might start to think that the future is brighter in Black and White colours.

Leicester have sold big names before, but to Champions League clubs, so bearing that in mind, the Magpies will have a right battle on their hands.
