Mo Elneny has bid farewell to Mesut Ozil on Twitter after the latter finally left Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The 32-year-old has officially called time on his time with the Gunners after being announced as a Fenerbahce player on Sunday.

Ozil hadn’t kicked a ball for Arsenal since March of last year and Edu and the player’s representatives successfully negotiated a termination of his contract, which was due to expire this summer.

The former Real Madrid playmaker produced quite a few moments of magic during his seven-and-a-half year spell at the Emirates Stadium, but none more so than his Champions League goal against Ludogorets back in 2016.

That goal was set up by Elneny and the £7 million former Basel midfielder, who spent five years playing alongside Ozil, has reminded his former team-mate of that fact on Twitter:

Some Arsenal fans will be saddened by Ozil’s exit because, at times, he was a majestic player for them, but his influence and appetite has waned in recent years and it’s been obvious for quite some time that a new challenge was needed.
