Liverpool fans have backed the calls from some parts of the Everton faithful that they want Frank Lampard as their next manager.

The former Chelsea boss is one of the contenders for the vacant role and he has some history with Liverpool.

In his previous job at Stamford Bridge, Lampard had a spat with Jurgen Klopp on the Anfield touchline that was clear to hear for everyone because it was when supporters weren’t allowed into stadiums.

Well, fast forward to this current day and the former midfielder is the ‘leading contender’ to replace Rafa Benitez, as reported by the Independent.

If Lampard does take the job on the blue half of Merseyside, then he will be walking into quite a mess.

What perhaps summed up where Everton are at was when one of the main candidates for the job, Vitor Pereira, decided to go on Sky Sports News to share how his interview process went with Farhad Moshiri.

It’s just pure lunacy to think that was a wise idea and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the intention behind it was to try and quell an angry Everton fan base.

There was has been graffiti sprayed outside of Goodison Park which reads, ‘Vitor Pereira out’ and ‘Frank Lampard in’.

Even before the Portuguese can even get a crack at the job, he’s seemingly not welcome to the club.

But one man’s name that is gaining popularity is that of Lampard’s and it seems as though Liverpool fans wouldn’t mind seeing him take the job either.

The red half of Merseyside clearly don’t rate Lampard’s managerial qualities and think he wouldn’t be able to sort their mess out.

Well, if he is handed the role by Moshiri, then it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to the talk around Lampard:
