Jim Beglin has claimed that Alexandre Lacazette was annoyed with Arsenal teammate Kieran Tierney this afternoon.
Arsenal consolidated their Champions League qualification spot by winning 1-0 away to Aston Villa today.
But it was a frustrating first half for the French striker, who seemed a little isolated from the Gunners’ attack.
One moment toward the end of the opening 45 minutes seemed to annoy Lacazette, with Tierney, a £25 million signing in 2019, failing to find him with a routine cross.
Here’s what Jim Beglin said during live commentary on Optus Sport.
He said: “He [Lacazette] looks a frustrated figure. I watched him when it was played into the box and he was unhappy because he had no support. He wasn’t best pleased with Tierney’s attempt to find him then either.”
The former Lyon hitman has only managed four Premier League goals all season long – two of which were penalties – and it’s safe to say that this was another underwhelming display.
Particularly because midway through the second half, Lacazette fluffed an excellent goalscoring chance by taking the shot on himself rather than squaring to a teammate to make it 2-0.
In the end, however, it wasn’t costly as Arsenal edged out the Villans.
Mikel Arteta’s outfit are now four points clear in fourth – and they still have a game in hand over fifth-placed Manchester United.
