Mark Schwarzer has admitted that he initially ‘wasn’t sure’ that Aaron Ramsdale was the right fit for Arsenal, but he has now changed his mind.
The former Premier League goalkeeper, who made 514 appearances in England’s top-flight, says Aaron Ramsdale has been ‘phenomenal’ for Mikel Arteta’s side this season.
That was proven over the weekend when he pulled off some outstanding and possible title-winning saves to help earn his side a point at Anfield.

Yes, Arsenal had a 2-0 lead, and they let that slip, but it could have been a lot worse, and it would have been if it wasn’t for the man in between their sticks.
Schwarzer knows the difficulties of playing in goal in the Premier League and he gave his flowers to Ramsdale, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports (12/04/23).
“I have been impressed with Aaron Ramsdale since he arrived at Arsenal,” said Schwarzer.
“I was one of those, I will hold my hand up, I wasn’t quite sure whether or not he was the right fit for Arsenal.
“You have to hold your hand up and say ‘Look, I think Aaron Ramsdale has been phenomenal for Arsenal’. He has grown as a goalkeeper and as an individual. He has really risen to the challenge. And he is getting better and better.”

RAMSDALE IS ONE OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE’S BEST
When Arsenal signed Ramsdale for a big fee during the summer of 2021, he arrived after suffering relegation with Sheffield United.
For the second season in a row, the England international had suffered relegation, after previously going down that unwanted road with Bournemouth.
But the powers that be at London Colney saw something that others didn’t, and whilst some laughed at the transfer, well, Ramsdale is having the last laugh now.
