Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to send a message to James Milner, after the Liverpool man tweeted his frustrations in regards to VAR.

The ex-Manchester City man – who earns £140,000-a-week at Anfield – was tweeting after his side were denied two goals by VAR in their 1-1 draw against Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp’s men also conceded a late penalty against Graham Potter’s side, which VAR had a hand in checking.

Lineker and Milner’s exchange can be seen below.

The BBC pundit honourably holds his hands up and admits that he was wrong about VAR, stating that he was much in favour of technology, but it’s now ruined the game and not for the better.

Milner echoes that sentiment, revealing that he’s falling out of love with football because of VAR’s energy-sapping antics.

In truth, it’s hard to disagree with the pair.

Gone are the days where you can just take a quick glance at the linesman before going wild at the sight of the ball hitting the back of the net.

Nowadays, it’s bound to reach the point where even entirely legitimate goals will merely be met with silent anxiety over whether or not the strike will count or not.

Regardless, the act of celebrating – for both supporters and players – feels like it’s becoming a dying art.

Worryingly, if that dies, then what will football actually be?

A soulless, technology-driven sport? Most likely.
