Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville has shared what he noticed Thiago Alcantara doing when he was substituted against Manchester United.

The Spaniard truly enjoyed himself against the Red Devils, and he put on an absolute clinic at Anfield, running rings around United’s turgid midfield.

Every touch Thiago took was quality, and his movement and passing range saw Liverpool utterly dominate the middle of the park.

The Spaniard was eventually substituted in the second-half, and Neville, watching from the gantry, actually noticed that the midfielder was laughing out loud when he came off the pitch.

What’s been said?

Neville spoke about what Thiago did when he came off.

“What Liverpool have done is, they’ve toyed with Manchester United. I was watching Thiago and Salah doing an interview, Thiago was laughing when he came off the pitch, he was laughing at them all game,” Neville said.

Telling

The fact that Thiago was laughing when he came off is telling of just how poor Manchester United were against Liverpool.

A midfielder should be grateful for the rest after being substituted against United having been in a dogfight in the midfield, but Thiago looked as though he was just having a kickabout with his mates down the park at Anfield on Tuesday.

We’re not surprised he was laughing on his way to the bench, his role in the midfield looked very enjoyable to play, and we’re sure he can’t wait to play against this United team again in the future.
