Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ryan Taylor has been discussing Arsenal’s transfer stance after missing out on Mykhaylo Murdryk this weekend.
The Gunners tasted disappointment on Saturday evening as it emerged that Chelsea had hijacked their deal to sign the Ukrainian forward, and, since then, the Arsenal fanbase has been in a bit of a meltdown.
However, behind the scenes, the Gunners are seemingly very calm about this situation.
Indeed, according to Taylor, club sources were relaxed about losing out on Mudryk, stating, quite simply, that they didn’t want anything to do with any bidding wars, while the journalist claims that Arsenal turned down one last chance to match Chelsea’s offer for the player on Saturday evening.

Arsenal don’t want bidding wars
Taylor shared what he’s heard about Arsenal’s transfer strategy.
“As it has been reported. Arsenal will not bow down to excessive valuations for targets. We saw it with Lisandro Martinez, Raphinha and now Mudryk, they don’t want any auctions and that is a message being relayed by those inside the club. Even when they were bidding for Raphinha and Martinez I was told we won’t get involved in an auction, we don’t want a bidding war, and that stance has been reflected on multiple occasions.
“I’m actually told that in the aftermath of the developments on Saturday, and the message from Arsenal was that they were happy to walk away when they knew about Chelsea’s offer. They had the chance to match the offer, and if they would have done so you imagine Mudryk could have ended up signing for Arsenal.”
Tough
It’s going to be tough for Arsenal to go about their business in this manner.
Yes, it’s smart to not want to get into bidding wars because you don’t want to overpay for players, but the reality is that top talents will attract a lot of interest.
Take one of the Gunners’ Mudryk alternatives, Moussa Diaby, as an example.
Arsenal have made contact to sign the Frenchman, but it’s no secret that Newcastle have been tracking him for a long time, so perhaps a bidding war could break out there.
If Arsenal just stand aside every time another team comes in for one of their targets, they’re not going to get very far at all.
