West Ham United will try and sign Manchester United player Jesse Lingard as soon as the January transfer window is open for business, according to a journalist.
The England international joined West Ham on a half-season loan last term and proved a massive success under David Moyes.
However, the Hammers failed to sign him on a permanent basis but Lingard remains out of favour at Manchester United once again.
It was reported in November that the Red Devils had slapped a £10 million price-tag on the 28-year-old.
And Eurosport journalist Dean Jones has claimed that West Ham will be immediately be in dialogue with United from January 1, which is 15 days from now.
He told Touchline Talk on YouTube: “I mean, they’re definitely going for Jesse. So, I was told the other day that as soon as the window’s open, they are going to reopen negotiations on Jesse Lingard and see what’s happening, because it looks like from afar that he’s not going to fit in under [Ralf] Rangnick. And it looks like he’s not going to sign a new contract.”
Good signing?
In a word, absolutely.
Michail Antonio scored six Premier League goals in as many games during the start of the season but he has gone off the boil in a horrendous way.
Antonio’s struggles underline West Ham’s need for an additional source of goals and considering that Lingard netted nine in 16 Premier League apperances for the Irons last season, you could say he will share the goalscoring burden in East London.
