Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to discuss Mesut Özil’s tweet from August, after recording a 3-1 win over Tottenham in the north London derby.
What’s the story?
Well, you may remember how Özil reacted to Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat against Manchester City on August 28th.
The German seemed to mock Mikel Arteta and the Gunners by tweeting ‘trust the process’ as they were getting hammered at the Etihad Stadium.
It is a line Arteta has used many times himself, while Alexandre Lacazette also had it printed on his boots in support of his manager’s ethos.
After aiming the dig at Arsenal, Özil was then nowhere to be seen on Sunday as the Gunners enjoyed their best day for a long time.
It’s certainly telling that Özil was quick to kick Arsenal while they were down, but didn’t say anything after they got back on their feet.
Mesut Özil proving Arsenal right

Many people – mainly those who idolised Özil – were devastated when Arsenal terminated his contract.
As he was a world class player, some may have felt he still had plenty to offer.
However, his form for Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig – a division incomparable to the Premier League – justifies Arteta’s call.

Özil has scored three goals in nine appearances this season, having failed to score in 11 outings for the Turkish giants last term.
If he was still capable of delivering in the Premier League, his numbers in the Süper Lig would surely be far better.
For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Özil’s tweet from last month…
